One block down… (Sort of)

There it is: my first Scrap Vomit block, and it isn’t even for me. This one is going off to Katy over at I’m A Ginger Monkey. Yep, the same Katy who started this whole Scrap Vomit thing off. This time she is making a queen version, but since she is not quite totally mad, and has about a zillion things going on at once, she is asking kind, benevolent quilters to send her completed basic blocks for the quilt instead of just squares. A perfectly reasonable request; it is a really fun block to make. At least I think so. So hop on ever there and give Katy some encouragement, and if you feel like it stitch up a block to send her way.

Oh, and while you are at it, you might want to hop over to the blog of my other compatriot in Scrap Vomit: Nicole at Follow the White Bunny. She, too, is in the process of cutting away, and would be more than happy to get wee packages of squares in the mail to help her along.

And then, of course, you could always jump right in, start your own Scrap Vomit Quilt, and join the Scrap Vomit Appreciation Society. We know you all have overflowing bins of scraps that you don’t know what to do with, so this is the perfect way to get through a bunch of ’em. No need to go crazy and do the 112″ square no-repeat version that I am doing; I think it would make a great baby quilt: endless things for a wee one to explore, and what better than a bit of scrap vomit to mask a little spit-up…

Okay. Probably went a little too far there…

PS Just have to do 64 more for myself this summer. Please tell me I am not entirely insane…

You are not insane – Katy on the other hand… (I’d be interested in how consistent the seam allowances are on those blocks.)
