So, I have this quilt I need to make. I can’t tell you a lot about it at the moment, but I’m going to need a bit of help with it. Let’s just think of it as a mystery block project of sorts…
Here is what I can tell you:
1] I need at least 225 people to play along.
2] The block is really simple. It involves two pieces of raw edge applique. No need for any fancy edge stitching, just plain old stitching about 1/16th of an inch from the edge.
3] The block will finish to 6″ so the applique will be easy to manage on a machine. I will send the pattern for the applique.
4] Each person will be sent a piece of Kona solid, and will be asked to pair that with a print from their stash. The pairing is up to you; let it reflect your taste. The only rule is you cannot use one of my designs.
5] You will need to stitch your initials onto the block. This can be hand or machine embroidery. It need not be fancy or anything; a couple of simple stitches will do.
6] There will be something of a tight turnaround, about a month. So if you volunteer please be sure you can do it. The block shouldn’t take much more than an hour, if that.
7] While it would be easy for people to make more than one block, that would kind of defeat the purpose of the quilt. I either have 225 different people make a block, or I make them all. It’s kind of an all-or-nothing sort of thing.
That’s it. I can’t give any more details right now. I expect to be sending out packages in early September and will need blocks back by early October.
I hope all of that makes sense.
So, if you want to play along, please comment below. Please include your email address; use the address [at] provider [dot] com format…
And please help spread the word. Thanks so much…
Yay people!!!
