The Braille Quilt-Along (at last…)

I’ve been away from the blog for a while, doing this and that, packing for the big move to England, heading off to South Carolina to spend some time with the Sea Island Quilters, and finishing up a bevy of projects that just needed to be wrapped up before we move away for the next year. But with all that done I can at last get down to some future business, the first of which is the upcoming Braille Quilt-Along…

After doing my Abecedarian quilt for Market (and Bee, of course) I’ve become rather smitten with doing Braille quilts. So, along with a few friends, I’ll be launching a Braille-Along in September. In that time I’ll be sharing all of the blocks for the Abecedarian quilt, as well as sharing an all-new Braille Quilt made of one of my favorite Oscar Wilde quotations (to be revealed at the end, making in a Mystery Braille Quilt-Along option: MBQAL for those keeping score at home)…

And since working with Thesaurus inspired my first Braille quilt, I’ve lined up an all-star roster to make their own quilts for the Braille QAL with Thesaurus as well. So you can look forward to some quilty love from the following folks:

Cassie of Elegantitus.com
Rachael of ImagineGnats
Jill of Made With Moxie
Kelley of Casa Crafty
Kataryna of Sew Chibi

Each of my fabulous co-conspirators are doing Braille quilts of their own devising, and judging by the sneak peeks I’ve seen we’ve got some awesome coming down the pike. Since I’ve already done a couple of Thesaurus Braille quilts now I’m actually doing my MBQAL (Mystery Braille Quilt-Along) quilt using the Kona My Blue Heaven colorstory from Robert Kaufman. And as an extra bonus, the wonderful folks at RK have sent me an extra FQ bundle of that colorstory to give away. Everybody who takes part will be eligible to win (details on that to come when the QAL starts up).

So, get yourself ready with your favorite quotation and start gathering up some fabric (Thesaurus is always a good bet for this one with all of its wonderful words). I’ll start sharing the pattern for Abecedarian in August, and will kick off the MBQAL in September. And of course will be sharing the awesome from all of the co-conspirators as well…
