Purplelicious…

I have jumped wholeheartedly to the side of purple. I used to fear purple, but I gotta say I’ve fallen for it, and I don’t think it is just because it is Bee’s new favorite color…

I can’t wait to start the next quilt I’m making; unfortunately I’m not going to be able to show it forever. But what I can show are the purples: the quilt is going to have vast swaths of three Kona purples…

You have no idea how happy Kona solids make me, seriously… I may not love every color (I don’t), but I love that I have 200+ to choose from. (Okay, I seriously sound like I’m a spokesperson or something, but I’m not.) Just picture me a year-and-a-half ago, starting to sew for the first time, going to Joann’s and being confronted by that meagre wall of solids. I almost cried; I thought that was going to be all I would ever have to work with. And then I learned about Kona solids… There really may have been an angelic choir.

Of course I love and use other solids. Hell, Andover is making me a few neutrals to go with all of my lines; I’m going to be using the heck out of those!!!

Anyway, back to my point. I can’t wait to start playing with these purples; it makes me happy to not have to settle on just one, to be able to play with three closely related colors for texture and variation and subtle little shifts. Especially when I add mix in a whole bunch of Cloud9 prints; I think they are going to go just incredibly, and not just because I love the heck out of Cloud9. I think the colors are just going to be a match made in heaven, especially when I back it with large quantities of Kona Cyan (with other bits of love pieced in)…

Yep, I love purple. So much so that I’m made some changes to my palate and you should expect to see purple well represented in the collections I have coming in the second half of 2012. Yay!!!

Hugs,
T
