Well, old school for me, by which I mean when I first started quilting, by which I mean about a year ago…
The second of my Xmas quilts went to my mum. It is the second top I ever pieced, and dear goodness is it clunky as all hell in terms of design. It would be a total train wreck if it weren’t for the super awesomeness of Swoon by Melissa Averinos…
I pieced this one right after New Year’s 2011, and my mum helped me lay things out and and try to make sense of whatever it was that I was doing. Once it was pieced it kinda just sat there for a long time ’cause there was no way I was going to try to wrestle it through my wee machine. Then the lovely and delightful Chris (aka @Frecklemama) offer to quilt it for me. I wanted it really lightly quilted, and I wanted something circular as a contrast, but that was all I knew. Chris took care of things from there…
I love the sporadic concentric circles; they work perfectly. Yay Chris!!! And thank you…
Now the quilt has made the trek back to North Carolina with my mum and it has found a home on her bed. Luckily I have another bundle of Melissa’s Swoon so perhaps I can see what I do with it in a decade when I finally get a hang of this quilting thing…
Hugs,
Thomas
